September 1st

August 31, 2009

It’s officially September, I don’t know where the time went but we’ll be putting up christmas trees in no time.

I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the summer of 2009, especially in terms of this website.

Currypoptart.com has had an incredible amount of growth over the last 3 months. More than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams.

Some interesting stats:

900% – amount of growth the website has had in views since January 2009.
172% – amount of growth the site has had from July 31 to August 31. only 30 DAYS!
600 – number of views we got on August 13th.. biggest day in the history of the site.
300 – amount of views we averaged per day in the month of August.

That’s without ANY promotion for this website at all. These numbers continue to grow and our records are being broken every week. What’s the point of telling you all of this? Well we’re not done yet! We had a great summer, but want to have an even better fall. So we urge you to spread the word on the website, join the Currypoptart.com group on Facebook, add us on twitter, throw up the url in your AIM away message. Whatever helps to get the word out.

We also are looking for partners interested in advertising with us. Those numbers showcase the rabid fanbase that this site is developing and it can only go up from here. This is the perfect time for a business to get in on the ground floor of the blog and get some premium ad space for a very affordable price. If anyone is interested in ad rates or buying ad space, contact me at adi@currypoptart.com (fans need not worry, these ads won’t be intrusive and content will always come first).

So in closing, I hope everyone had a great summer and I want to thank you for your continued support for this website. Let’s finish out the year with a bang… great content, news, and reviews are on the way!

CurryPopTart 1 Year Anniversary!

June 18, 2009

It was on this day, in a time long ago, 2008, that I entered the blogging world. I started a small blog on blogspot discussing things such as bathroom etiquette, delayed bus trips, and funny youtube vid’s. It’s pretty unbelievable to me that in just 365 days, that small little blog has evolved in a fully functioning site that is visited by thousands monthly from all over the world.

This blog has been and always will be a passion project for me. I don’t make money doing it but it’s a creative outlet and gives me the opportunity to discuss the things that I really care about.. gadgets, movies, games, and chicks with big asses. But all joking aside, I really appreciate everybody that has visited this site over the past year. If you enjoyed any of the news, reviews, and general shenanigans that we put up here, I would greatly appreciate that you tell a friend or two so that this blog can continue to grow.

Thanks for the support and I look forward to another great year at CurryPopTart!

Happy Thanksgiving

November 27, 2008

a_charlie_brown_thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from CurryPopTart. Enjoy this day to be thankful we don’t stay in the Taj Hotel, aren’t traveling out of Penn Station, and who needs a retirement package anyways? Take this day to spend with some loved ones and try to forget about the problems of the world for one day while you watch sub par football games and stuff your face full of trans fat. This is the American dream and we should be happy that we are atleast in good health and in good spirits. Where would this country be if its citizens didnt line up like cattle infront of the mall tomorrow at 4 AM and wait in line for 6 hours to save 20 bucks on a blender?!?

Oh and for any fellow degenerate gambler’s here’s some Thanksgiving Day NFL picks to make your holiday that much more special:

Tennessee @ Detroit (Tennessee lost big time to a Favre lead up and coming NY Jets. They will have a lot to prove as their dominance is already being questioned by sports writers. Look for a bloodbath in the Motor City.)

Seattle @ Dallas (TO is back baby! After a huge game last week and Romo returning to form in the pocket, look for Dallas to stomp Seattle into submission)

Arizona @ Philadelphia (‘Zona is coming off a big home loss and headed to the East Coast where they have struggled all season, Philadelphia was slaughtered by Baltimore last week, I would say that Arizona will inch out on top with a stronger run game/pass def)

My Thoughts on Gay Marriage

November 23, 2008

For more thoughts on the issues we really care about, look for “Practically White” my new comedy book/cd out in 2009.

Why is it so hard for our country to finally pass a law accepting Gay marriage?  Are we so afraid of the gay germs or the gay cooties?  What’s wrong with letting two Mary’s prance down the aisle together wearing matching tuxedos?  Is promising each other a life time of quarrels on who’s going to be on top and who’s going to refill the vat of industrial sized grape scented lubricant, just too much for us to comprehend?

You would think that in the year 2008, Gay marriage would pass in a snap.  I mean we’re a country that’s highest rated show is about ballroom dancing!  Since when did watching 8 actors whose celebrity is quite questionable in the first place learning how to do the waltz considered mainstream entertainment?  When exactly did it become acceptable for man’s man Emmitt Smith to pirouette around a dance floor on primetime TV?  This should be an offense punishable only by public stoning or death by Dutch oven.

If we’re anti-gay than why is American Idol entering its 8th season?  Are there not enough fruits on that show to fill a farmer’s market?  I mean was anybody that surprised when Clay Aiken revealed he was gay, after fathering a test tube baby with a 50 year old woman named James?  The entertainment industry is chock full of gay’s, many of which we idolize without even knowing that they are homosexuals.  Would the world knowing that Barry Manilow enjoys the occasional Friday night romp full of scented candles, bubble baths, and throat fucking a 25 year old Puerto Rican drag queen really make us enjoy “Mandy” or “Copacabana” any less?

The gays have brought us many great inventions.  From show tunes, leather couches (as to not have their faces scratched up from cloth when getting pounded by their boyfriend into their sofa from behind), Will & Grace, and of course balloons (I mean come on, blowing up multi colored rubbers until they become the size of a watermelon and throwing them around the room saying you’re “ready for a party!”).  Where would we be without George Takei on Star Trek as Mr. Sulu?  So what if he wants to grease himself up and 69 a guy while listening to Judy Garland and watching old Burt Reynolds movies.   The guy is an icon!

Who cares if Ellen wants to bang a girl that’s too hot for even most straight guys to get?  Should Ellen not be allowed to walk down the aisle in her pant suit and sneakers, dancing like an epileptic, with her Jeff Foxworthy haircut, and the body frame of a 14 year old teenage boy?   Equality is her right as much as it is for anyone else’s.  Gay marriage is an issue I can endorse, because let’s face it, no law is going to stop two Broadway loving, Nathan Lane watching, John Tesh listening bear’s to stop from finding each other and treat each other’s assholes like a plunger digging into a backed up public stall.  Gay’s want to marry and raise kids and I say let them!  Most of us straight people are incapable of doing it ourselves and in the end without gays, who would really teach our kids Art in school anyways?

100 POSTS!!!!

October 2, 2008

Today is a huge milestone for the blog as we reach 100 posts! This blog is a true passion project as I don’t really make any money off it and had no real expectations for it. I just wanted a place to write about things that interested me and get a chance to have my creative niche in cyberspace. I am very pleased with the way its shaped up, and believe there is a lot of great content and reviews on here. I hope you have enjoyed it so far and will continue to check back daily. If you can throw up the link in your blog/facebook/myspace/AIM profile or wherever else it would be a great help, tell a friend or two if you could as well. I will be trying to promote the blog more in the future and would eventually like to move it to my own website, but right now I guess I’m just lucky I post regularly.

Again, thank you for your support and viewership and keep checking back as it will only continue to get better. Now, on to some news:

- Stephen Colbert is going to be on the cover of Spider Man. This is one of the first times I can remember a celebrity being incorporated into a comic book story and this should move quite a few issues, if not for collector’s sake.

- Zack Snyder, the director of 300 and the upcoming Watchmen has confirmed a sequel to 300 as Frank Miller is currently coming up with a brand new graphic novel for it. Plot-wise, Snyder said the novel will take place between the Battle of Thermopylae (the main focus of the original movie) and the Battle of Plataea right at the end of the film.

The film will explore the year-long period between these battles, with the valour of the 300 Spartans inspiring the Greek kingdoms to unite in the face of the might Persian army.

- Principal photography began on Guy Ritchie’s new Sherlock Holmes movie yesterday in England. Robert Downey Jr. plays Holmes, while Jude Law will be playing his sidekick Watson. Rachel McAdams will be Holmes’ love interest and Mark Strong (Body of Lies, RocknRolla) will be villain, Blackwood. I was hoping Professor Moriarty would be the villain as in the novels but maybe they are saving that for the sequel.

- The biggest news is that Martin Scorsese and Robert DeNiro are reteaming for a brand new gangster movie called “I Heard You Paint Houses.” Anybody that knows me, knows that gangster films are my favorite genre and Scorsese is my favorite director. This is the first time the duo have been together since 1996’s “Casino” and it has classic written all over it.

The film, based on a book of the same name, is based on the life of Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran (to be played by De Niro), a notorious mob hitman rumoured to have carried out the assassination of Teamsters’ boss Jimmy Hoffa.
