Modern Warfare 2 Gameplay

While this certainly isn’t the greatest quality, it shows off a bit of the intensity and single player mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which drops this November. Already got mine preordered.

Starcraft 2 Delayed to 2010

August 5, 2009

Activison’s quarterly financial reports bring some more delay news.

CEO Bobby Kotick announced that Starcraft II and Singularity have been moved to 2010.

“As we prepare for next year, we have moved the expected release dates for two games, Activision Publishing’s Singularity and Blizzard Entertainment’s StarCraft II, into 2010,” he said.

Kotick didn’t explain the reasoning behind the delay, but added in earlier comments that this holiday would be very strong for the company.

Shortly after the news broke, Blizzard released the following statement: “Today we announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new for the launch of the game. The upgraded is an integral part of the StarCraft II experience and will be an essential part of all of our games moving forward. This extra development time will be critical to help us realize our vision for the service.”

The delay isn’t exactly a surprise, as Blizzard is notorious for delays, and rumbles about StarCraft II had been growing. Last month, Stearne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia predicted a delay.

PS3 Price Cut in 2009 ‘Highly Likely’

June 22, 2009

Lots of rumors swirling today about a PS3 price drop as some big developers like Activision are contemplating pulling their support from the PS3 and PSP if they don’t cut prices and get more console’s to consumers. Microsoft must be doing a happy dance today:

Executives at major retailer GameStop have weighed in with their console predictions for the remainder of 2009, expecting both PlayStation and Wii to receive a meaningful price cut before the year is out.

That’s according to a research note from analyst Arvind Bhatia of Sterne Agee, following a meeting with key GameStop executives. As reported by Gamasutra, GameStop cites the slowing of sales for both Nintendo and Sony’s consoles, with PlayStation 3 in most urgent need of attention.

Previously, Bhatia has predicted that PS3 might lose up to 100 USD of its current price point alongside the release of EA’s Madden NFL 10 in August.

With growing pressure from the games industry to slash the price of the PlayStation 3 – most recently from Activision CEO Bobby Kotick who questioned his company’s continued support of Sony’s machine in the light of a probable attach rate tumble – we doubt we’ve heard the last of the issue yet.

Activision is releasing new DLC for Call of Duty: World At War on March 19 and has also unveiled a new trailer featuring the slaughter of many Nazi Zombies as well as a peek at the new map Verrukt (a.k.a Zombie Asylum). This map pack should hopefully hold us over for a bit until fall arrives and Modern Warfare 2 finally comes out.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 / game news

December 5, 2008

As I type this I have full roddage and my hands are trembling with excitement. Activision Blizzard is holding their annual upfront’s in Midtown Manhattan just a few blocks away from me to show advertisers their ’09 lineup and get big bucks for ad space in return (i.e. Burger King buying ad space on the note highway for GH 5). Well MTV Multiplayer (hire me!) is there and covering the event live and has a slew of updates. The biggest of course being confirmation on the 6th Call of Duty game to come out Fall ’09 which will be a SEQUEL to Modern Warfare and made by the same development team (infinity ward) that was behind it.

There will also be a new Tony Hawk sequel, a James Bond auto racing game (by the develops of Project Gotham) and some rumors are swirling on the Kojami Production website that Hideo Kojami is intending to bring a new Metal Gear game or a port of Metal Gear 4 to the Xbox 360.

Note to game developers, cryptic math equations are boring just tell us what you’re intending to do because we know that solving e=mc2 aint gonna get the game in my hands any faster.
