51st Grammy Awards Recap

February 9, 2009

That was the only decent performance last night on the Grammy’s.. I mean how out of touch are these awards now?  Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, Kid Rock, Coldplay?  Bloated Green Day presenting?  Who cares.  If you’re into heavily lip synced performances and the Grammy board sucking up to Plant, Kraus, and Chris Martin then this was the show for you.  If you’re part of the other 99% of the population who is sick of the same 4-5 artists being shoved down our throats than you probably passed on this year’s award show.

I will give props to new comers like Adele, Katy Perry, my boy John Mayer, Metallica, Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake’s performance, and Jennifer Hudson.  Also when will people learn that Coldplay is NOT rock and should not have won Best Rock Album.

Overall, it was a very bland and predictable show which really doesn’t mean anything anymore.  I mean 100 awards were given away in the pretelecast alone.  The only interesting story of the night was the whereabouts of Chris Brown and Rihanna.  Word on the street is that Brown assaulted Rihanna with a deadly weapon in his rented Lambo and could face up to 9 years of jail time if convicted guilty.  TMZ.com has been updating all day and we’ll try to have more on that story as it develops.

2009 Sundance Lineup

December 3, 2008

The 2009 Sundance Film Festival will take place Jan 15-25 in Park City, Utah. The official line up for the films being presented has just been released and CurryPopTart has it in its entirety. Festival Director Geoffrey Gilmore had this to say about this year’s entries, “There’s quite a bit of romance and melodrama in this year’s festival, a lot of genre, a lot of emotion. But I think it’s a type of escape that’s not necessarily escapist. There’s an awareness of the world that wasn’t there a dozen years ago. It comes from the Internet, from a realization that America is not cut off from the rest of the world.”
